Personal Identity Theft

To help protect your identity, the Ontario Government has introduced a new Identity Theft Statement. This statement outlines the steps you should take in the event you become a victim.

One of their key recommendations in how you can avoid becoming a victim of identity theft is:

'always store any cards and documents containing personal information in a secure place, and shred them after they expire.'

The Ministry of Consumer and Business Affairs has much information available concerning identity theft, protecting your identity, what to do if you are a victim of identity theft, who to contact if you are a victim and a discussion of Ontario's new Identity Theft Statement.

For more information you can download their brochure at www.cbs.gov.on.ca, or pick up a copy at the nearest Government Information Centre.

Random FAQ

Do we have to pay for the key-locked security containers?
Royal Shredding has two options, build the costs of the containers into the service fees or charge separately for the containers.  Originally, we had the cost built into our service fees.
As of June 2008, Royal shredding has separated these costs for the benefit of our clients.  You now have three options:
     - purchase the containers
or  -place a security deposit
or  -rent the containers
Thus, you now have the choice of which option suits you best.
