Royal Shredding Membership Associations

Royal Shredding has memberships in numerous organizations including NAID, the Better Business Bureau and several Chambers of Commerce.

NAID

NAID Canada Royal Shredding belongs to both NAID (www.naidonline.org/) and NAID Canada (www.naidcanada.org). NAID (National Association for Information Destruction) is the national association representing companies that specialize in secure information and document destruction. As well as providing education and information to various stakeholders including consumers, businesses and governments, on issues of importance to the information destruction industry, NAID has a Certification Program for members. This program establishes minimum standards for employee hiring and screening, operations, the destruction process, insurance as well as other security related factors. When a NAID member passes the audit, they are issued a certificate, indicating the company name, certification level, and the specific location of the NAID certified operation.

Members are bound by the Code of Ethics as follows

Members shall not by any means engage in, nor allow the use of, statements that are false, misleading, incomplete, or likely to mislead consumers or members of the public.
Members shall respect the confidential nature of the customers' records and shall maintain appropriate protection to prevent any disclosure of such information except when required by law.
Members shall uphold and improve the integrity of the industry by affirmations of truth, fairness and professional conduct.
Members shall not consider or represent general office paper recycling as a form of destruction.
Members shall provide opportunities for the interchange of experience, opinions and knowledge through meetings, discussions and publications, for the improvement of the industry, and for the benefit of customers.
Members shall price their services in a manner that accurately reflects the terms of service and pricing as understood by the client.
Members shall promote the purpose and effectiveness of the information destruction industry by any and all means consistent with the public interest.
Members shall abide by Federal, Provincial and Local laws and regulations.
Members shall abide by, and be subject to, the By-Laws of the Association.
Members shall deal fairly with their customers, employees and suppliers.
Members shall be good corporate citizens by serving the community.
Members shall be honest, truthful and fair to all concerned.

Better Business Bureau

Better Business BureauRoyal Shredding is a member of the Better Business Bureau of South Central Ontario (www.thebbb.ca/) . This organization is a public service agency devoted to the vitality of the free enterprise system and the concerns of the consuming public. Its mission is to promote and foster the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education and service excellence.

Through this organization you can check out a business or file a complaint against a company. Membership in the Better Business Bureau of South Central Ontario requires that a business shall meet and maintain specific requirements and standards and participate in an objective and structured complaint resolution process that benefits both the consumer and the member.

Chamber of Commerce

Ontario Chamber of CommerceThe Ontario Chamber of Commerce (www.occ.on.ca/) is a federation of approximately 171 community Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce located throughout Ontario. These Chambers of Commerce are groups of business people who join together as an association to meet goals such as economic development, tourism promotion, lobbying government or event management, through programs of action. Each organization is dedicated to serving the best and key interests of the jurisdiction in which they have some combined voice and/or effect.

 Royal Shredding is actively becoming a member of the Chambers of Commerce within its market area. Currently, Royal Shredding belongs to the Chamber of Commerce Brantford Brant (www.brcc.ca/), the Simcoe & District Chamber of Commerce (www.simcoechamber.on.ca/), the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce(http://www.hamiltonchamber.on.ca/), and the Waterford Chamber of Commerce.

ARMA International

Its approximately 11,000 members include records managers, archivists, corporate librarians, imaging specialists, legal professionals, IT managers, consultants, and educators, all of whom work in a wide variety of industries, including government, legal, healthcare, financial services, and petroleum in the United States, Canada, and 30-plus other countries.

ARMA International publishes The Information Management Journal, the only professional journal specifically for professionals who manage records and information on a daily basis. The award-winning Journal is published bi-monthly and features top-drawer articles on the hottest topics in records and information management today, as well as marketplace news and analysis.

The association also develops and publishes standards and guidelines related to records management. It was a key contributor to the international records management standard, ISO-15489.
