Royal Shredding is a firm supporter of protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment. We encourage all of our business clients and individuals to practice the three R's, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Although Royal Shredding has the capability to destroy many forms of media our major shredding activity is designed for paper.

Recycling of paper products makes economic and environmental sense. More paper recycled means less trees cut. Many pulp and paper mills, as well as paper production firms, use recycled paper as a material source.

Preserving forests

Most of the paper that Royal Shredding destroys and recycles is known as fine paper. This is a higher grade of recyclable paper than cardboard, newsprint or boxboard and when recycled through Royal Shredding this material is considered "sorted" (unlike most blue box materials that can contain a variety of types). Recycled fine paper is used to make tissue paper, printing and writing paper and printer paper. We also make sure that your banker's boxers, other cardboard containers and plastic bags are sent to recycling facilities as a practical and environmentally friendly alternative to landfill.

Each year, Royal Shredding prepares a Certificate outlining how many trees your organization has saved for the year.

Additional information on recycling and conservation can be found at:

  • The Recycling Council of Ontario (http://www.rco.on.ca/) is a not-for-profit organization committed to minimizing society's impact on the environment by eliminating waste. Its mission is to 'inform and educate all members of society about the generation of waste, the avoidance of waste, the more efficient use of resources and the benefits and/or consequences of these activities'.
  • Ontario Conserves (http://www.ontarioconserves.gov.on.ca/ ) is part of the Province of Ontario's commitment to provide the education resources needed to meet the challenge of conservation. It is intended to inform, challenge and give practical advice on how Ontarians can become a culture of conservation. On this Web site, you can learn more about the government's conservation strategy. You can also find out about what government is doing, what others are doing and what you can do to make Ontario a leader in conservation.
